It is mandatory that all vehicles are removed from roadways during a snow event. Vehicle free roadways enable plow vehicles to do curb-to-curb plowing, ensuring safe passage on borough streets.
Sidewalks must be cleared of snow within 12 hours after a snowfall.
When shoveling driveways and sidewalks, do not discard snow on the plowed roadways. The snow will refreeze and create hazardous situations. The Department of Public Works understands the frustration of a cleared driveway being plowed in. Plow operators, however, are doing what is required. If possible, wait for the streets to be cleared prior to cleaning your walkways and driveways.
The Department of Public Works prides itself on maintaining safe roadways and helping residents whenever possible.
