List of Services
1. Christmas Tree Collection: Place trees (free of ornaments, lights, garland and other decorations) curbside to be collected on first and third Fridays. Trees must not be in bags.
2. Yard/Garden Debris (does not include leaves): Beginning January 1, 2021, all yard/garden debris (grass clippings, weeds, shrub clippings, lawn rakings) must be placed in cans not to exceed 35 pounds. Collection begins the third Friday of March and ends the first Friday in January. We will be picking up yard/garden debris the first and third Fridays of the month. We will no longer pick up yard/garden debris in paper bags because the bags tear, rip and disintegrate due to grass dew, moisture and rain. PLEASE BE ADVISED if items are not collected, leave them out and DPW will return to get them as soon as possible.
3. Leaf Collection: Leaf collection begins the second Monday of October and ends the second Monday in January. Leaves may be placed in biodegradable bags or cans (cans must weigh less than 35 pounds). LEAVES ONLY. No sticks, rocks, garbage, non- biodegradable material or yard/garden debris is permitted. PLEASE BE ADVISED if items are not collected, leave them out and DPW will return to get them as soon as possible.
4. Branch Collection: Branches and brush will be collected the first and third Fridays of each month. Brush must be bundled and tied or placed in cans {cans cannot weigh more than 35 pounds}. Branches collected in cans must not protrude more than two feet from the can’s opening. No sticks, rocks, garbage, non- biodegradable material or yard/garden debris is permitted. PLEASE BE ADVISED if items are not collected, leave them out and DPW will return to get them as soon as possible.
5. Storm Damaged Branches and/or Limbs: Public Works will suspend normal collection procedures to allow for the pickup of large spread damage from weather events such as hurricanes and thunderstorms. Branches can be no longer than 10 feet and all butt ends must face the same direction. Do not pile them because it causes the branches to interlock, making collection extremely difficult. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated and Will expedite collection. PLEASE BE ADVISED if items are not collected, leave them out and DPW will return to get them as soon as possible.
6. Bulk Collection: Public Works collects bulky waste the second Friday during the months of February, April, June, August, October, and December. Please call 732-356-0258 extension 123 to schedule a collection. There are fees associated with bulk pick up which will be explained at the time of scheduling.
GARBAGE COLLECTION
Garbage is collected every Thursday. Garbage cans should placed as near as possible upon or along the curb line after 5:00 pm on the day preceding pickup. If a pickup date is on a holiday, updates to the schedule will be posted on the town website.
Do not place garbage cans in the street.
Trash collection is managed by a private company, Interstate Waste Services, contracted by the borough. The cost for pickup is included in property tax. If you require additional information they can be contacted at (866) 342-5497.
RECYCLING
Single Stream Recycling is collected every other Wednesday. If you
require additional information about the recycling program, contact the County Recycling Department at 732-469-3363.
Recycling carts must be placed within three feet of the curb with the wheels facing your house, after 6:30 pm on Tuesday evening before pickup.
