SOMERVILLE, NJ – The Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission is accepting grant applications for the 2023 County History Partnership Program Grant (CHPP). This grant helps support both new and existing local history organizations that serve the public. Potential applicants include historical societies and organizations, libraries, nonprofits, or municipalities that offer New Jersey history programming, history-related services, and history education about Somerset County for its residents.
“The County History Partnership Program Grant provides local nonprofits and communities with an opportunity to highlight Somerset County’s unique history,” said County Commissioner Deputy Director Melonie Marano, liaison to the Cultural & Heritage Commission. “Our county has a prominent place in the history of New Jersey and our nation, and this grant program will help our community share those stories as we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary.”
Grant Guidelines
Funding is competitive and will be awarded to organizations that demonstrate managerial competency, fiscal stability, excellence in history programming, and the organizational capacity to execute a proposed program or project. Some of the requirements for eligibility are:
- Funds may be awarded for New Jersey history programs and projects that are accessible to the general public or for general operating support in the 2023 calendar year.
- For general operating support, the organization’s mission must be solely history dedicated.
Funding for this grant is contingent on funds made available to the Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission by the New Jersey Historical Commission (NJHC) in 2023. Match requirements have been waived for 2023.
