Prosecutor’s Office to Present ‘Internet Safety: Keeping Children Safe Online’

 

 

SOMERVILLE, NJ – Find out how to help keep children safe and protected from online predators during Child Abuse Awareness Month in April. Criminal Investigation Division Detectives Thomas Laird and Sara Dugan, along with other experts from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, will present “Internet Safety: Keeping Children Safe Online” on Friday, April 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The presentation will take place at the Somerset County Emergency Training Academy, located at 402 Roycefield Road, Hillsborough, NJ 08844. Professional development credits are available.

Criminal investigation experts will discuss the most popular apps and online sites easily accessible to youth. Other topics include identifying patterns of internet usage that may cause safety issues and the parental controls available on Apple and Android devices. There also will be an overview of the laws for online-based crimes and local resources for victims of internet crimes. This presentation is for professionals and anyone 21 years of age and older who would like to attend.
