Senior Wellness Center at Hillsborough Offering Tai Chi Chih
The Deadline for Registration is Sept. 14
SOMERVILLE, NJ – The Somerset County-operated Senior Wellness Center at Hillsborough, located at 339 South Branch Road, invites residents age 60 and above to participate in in-person “Tai Chi Chih” exercise classes. Tai Chi Chih is ideal for older adults, and experience is not necessary.
Tai Chi Chih is a mindfulness-moving meditation practice, which is easy to learn. In this program, participants will be able to experience the benefits of 19 gentle movements and one pose. Individuals of almost any age, ability, or condition can perform these movements while standing or sitting. It will help participants improve balance, increase energy, help relieve pain, boost the body’s immune system, and help improve cognitive health.
The ten-week event will run from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. beginning Sept. 21 and will continue every Wednesday through Nov. 23. Registration will be open until Wednesday, Sept. 14.
A program fee of $50 is requested before the first class. Class size is limited. Registration fees will be returned to registrants via mail if the class becomes filled. If participants drop out or are a no show, the registration fee is non-refundable.
