SOMERVILLE, NJ – Somerset County has been providing the COVID vaccine to its residents for four weeks, and is readying to begin providing second doses. County residents and workers who have received their initial dose from the Somerset County clinics will be emailed a date for their second dose appointment at Raritan Valley College. Those who receive the second dose appointment must bring the color-coded card they received when obtaining the initial dose with them to be verified and signed as proof they have received their second dose.

“We are excited to be moving to this next phase of helping our residents complete their vaccinations as we work toward vaccinating 70 percent or more of our population in the next six months,” said Shanel Y. Robinson, Somerset County Board of County Commissioners Director. “Unfortunately the quantity of vaccine we receive is limited at this time, and so we are asking for everyone’s patience as we continue to prepare for when there are significantly more doses available.”

The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine comes in two doses, the second at a minimum of 28 days after the initial dose is administered. The second dose appointments will be scheduled based on the date listed on the colored-coded card received with the first dose. If someone is unable to attend the clinic on their assigned date, an alternate date will be provided.

The second dose process utilized by Somerset County is ONLY for people who have received their first dose at a Somerset County Department of Health vaccination site. If you received your dose at another clinic, please contact them to learn about scheduling a second dose.

Residents and workers who have not yet received their initial dose should register at to be notified when they will be eligible to attend a vaccination clinic. Pre-registration does not include an appointment, but an interest in being vaccinated. Once pre-registered, appointments will be scheduled based on your priority group and eligibility to receive vaccine. The length of Phase 1 and the timing of Phase 2 vaccinations for the general public will be determined by the number of vaccination requests and the availability of vaccine, but anyone can pre-register immediately.

Registration is required for all Somerset County Department of Health Clinics, and the clinics will not be able to accommodate walk- and drive-up clients due to the fixed number of vaccine doses available at each clinic.

The State of New Jersey has listed additional locations where residents can sign up to receive vaccines as long as they are in Phase 1 Group A, are a first responder, are 65 or older, or those 16 to 64 with medical conditions that leave them vulnerable to COVID:
