‘Women in Public Life: Pathways to Civics and Service’

SOMERVILLE, NJ – Join the inspiring “Women in Public Life: Pathways to Civics and Service” Zoom event hosted by the Somerset County Commission on the Status of Women on Monday, June 14 at 7 p.m. The program is an uplifting webinar that will take participants through the journey of three special guest speakers and their successful career path in public service.

“I encourage people to join this informative and inspirational webinar,” said Somerset County Commissioner Deputy Director Sara Sooy. “Women’s roles in public service have expanded over the past few years, and it’s important to  keep that trend moving forward. We need to continue to recognize the positive impact women have when working in the public service sector.”

Guest speakers include:

  • The Honorable Shelly L. Bell, M.A., a fellow of Emerge New Jersey, who has extensive political and government experience, specializes in constituent relations, legislative affairs, and leadership development, and in 2020 was the first African-American elected to serve as committeeperson for Montgomery Township;
  • Dr. Sandra Grundfest, M.A. Ph.D., founding commissioner of the New Jersey State Commission on the Status of Women and founding member of Princeton University Women’s Organization (PUWP); and
