Somerset County Department of Health Provides One-Stop Clinics
Residents Can Get COVID-19 and Flu Vaccinations at the Same Time
SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ – Beginning Oct. 14, residents can receive both the flu and COVID-19 vaccinations at the same time by visiting any free, local, walk-in, or drive-thru vaccination clinic sponsored by the Somerset County Department of Health (SCDOH). Healthcare experts recommend that people receive both the flu and COVID-19 vaccinations to protect themselves since both viruses can spread rapidly during the fall/winter season when more people congregate indoors.
Viruses spread from person to person when infected people are near each other (within approximately 6 feet) and cough, sneeze or talk. The flu and COVID viruses can also spread by shaking hands or touching a surface that has been contaminated and then touching one’s mouth, nose, or eyes.
Walk-in and Drive-Thru Clinics
Residents can receive their 1st, 2nd, 3rd or booster doses of the appropriate COVID vaccine if they meet the criteria that has been approved by the FDA and CDC. Residents must be 18 years or older to receive a flu shot. Proof of vaccination is required (if applicable), as well as proof of county residency. Appointments are not necessary.

People can become infected with the flu and COVID-19 viruses at the same time. Although both the Flu and COVID-19 viruses are contagious respiratory illnesses, COVID-19 is a coronavirus (called SARS-CoV-2), and the seasonal flu can be one of many influenza viruses that spread among people every year. The flu vaccine will not protect someone from COVID-19 and vice versa, so getting both the COVID-19 and the flu vaccination is the best way to protect yourself from both viruses.
Preventative actions such as washing hands with soap and water, covering the mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, and staying home when sick can also help stop the spread of germs and help protect yourself and others from spreading respiratory diseases.
