Somerset County to Celebrate 75 Years of Free, Family Fun At 2023 4-H Fair
Aug. 9,10 and 11 at North Branch Park in Bridgewater
BRIDGEWATER, NJ – The public is invited to attend the Somerset County 4-H Fair during its 75th year anniversary this month to enjoy free, summer fun for the whole family. The fair takes place Aug. 9 to 11, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at North Branch Park, 355 Milltown Road, Bridgewater, NJ. Visitors will love the entertainment, food vendors, giveaways, crafts, games, animals, and science and art exhibits created by 4-H members. Attendance and parking are free.
“Visiting the 4-H Fair is a longstanding tradition for many families as it provides a sense of community for participants and fairgoers,” said County Commissioner Sara Sooy, liaison to Rutgers Co-Op, which manages the fair. “I love visiting the fair each year because of its local flair provided by bands, artists, organizations, and vendors from around the area.”
Exciting Programs and Entertainment
New this year is “4-H’s Got Talent,” where 4-H members will showcase their talent for the community. There will also be miniature ponies, and other animals.
Families will not want to miss programs such as “Robotic Spin Art,” “Listen to a Goat’s Heartbeat,” “Go-Kart Time Trials,” and a “Milk and Cookie Eating Contest.” Enjoy entertainment such as the “4-H Magician’s Guild Magic Show,” “Back Porch Jug Band” and the “Spare Parts Organ Trio Jazz Band.”
Somerset County Government Tent, Free Programs, Services, Games & Giveaways
This year’s theme for the Somerset County Government Tent is “Somerset: Healthy & Strong.” Stop by the county’s tent to learn about free services and programs, get giveaways, enter a drawing to win a free yoga mat and other prizes, and play fun games. There will be a special emphasis on the ways county government supports resident’s physical and mental wellness.
There will also be interesting, informative, and fun health-related programs, including: “Storytime” by the Somerset County Library System, free blood pressure screenings, K9 unit demonstrations, “Meet Betsy the Therapy Dog,” “Make a George Washington Spyglass,” with Somerset County Cultural & Heritage and “Let’s Talk Carbphobia: Good Versus Bad Carbs,” by a licensed nutritionist.

Somerset County encompass 305 square miles, contains diverse landscapes, population, and development that reflects the varied lifestyles of its estimated 345,367 residents. The county’s 14,922.96 acres of parkland include the County Fairgrounds, which hosts the annual Somerset County 4-H Fair as well as golf courses, picnic areas, hiking and bicycling trails, stables, a swimming pool, and an Environmental Education Center.
